Course Overview

ERS Fundamentals bootcamp

Course Code: 6702C-6721C
Duration: 5
Price: EGP16,205.00

Overview

By attending the ERS Fundamentals bootcamp, you will gain a fundamental understanding of IP routing protocols with emphasis on the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol. The course explains the theory, configuration, operation, and support of the OSPF protocol with special consideration given to OSPF areas, summary ranges, and external routes.
The course also includes a discussion of address masks, Routing Information Protocol, the use and configuration of IP route policy filters along with an introduction to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and IPv6.

You will also explore the installation process for Ethernet Routing Switches including licensing and PoE configurations. You will examine the processes involved in the implementation of Avaya's small, medium, and large converged campus solutions.

Hands-on labs will allow you to configure the ERS 8600 to serve as the network core and ERS 5500s to serve on the network edge. Labs will use a combination of the ERS 8600 CLI, NNCLI on the ERS 5500, and Java Device Manager.

Pre-Requisites

To gain the prerequisite skills and knowledge, Avaya strongly recommends the knowledge of the following courses:

    More Information

    This course is designed for:

    • Technical individual who need to understand the underlying protocols used on Avaya ERS switches, how to configure it for a typical enterprise environment, and how to maintain its operation within the network
    • Technical staff responsible for the design of Campus Solutions using Avaya's Ethernet Routing Switch products. It also prepares technical personnel for the installation, operation, and management of the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switches.
Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
    • Describe how IP routing is implemented on a Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch
    • Describe the use of static routes, alternate routes and equal cost multi-path and how they are implemented in the network
    • Explain the operation of RIP and configure RIP advertising within a network
    • Describe and configure virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP)
    • Describe the characteristics of an OSPF domain, and configure an OSPF Domain including multiple areas with route summarization
    • Implement an IP routed network using RIP and OSPF Protocols and establish route policies
    • Describe the elements of a BGP network and configure the BGP Protocol
    • Discuss the differences between IPv4 and IPv6 including the advantages of IPv6
    • Describe the installation process for the ERS 8600 and ERS 8300
    • Describe the installation process for the ERS 5000, 4500, and 2500
    • Describe how to use NNCLI, ERS CLI, and JDM to configure Ethernet Routing Switches
    • List the processes needed to configure small converged networks with the ERS 5500 at the core and the ERS 2500 at the edge.
    • List the processes needed to configure medium converged networks with the ERS 8300 at the core and the ERS 4500 at the edge.
    • List the processes needed to configure large converged networks with the ERS 8600 at the core and the ERS 5500 at the edge.
